Parasha Toldot – Year 2 – Reaffirming the Covenant
Shabbat Shalom, Nazarene family.
This week we bring the activity of the parasha Toldot, portion of year 2 where we will see Yahweh reaffirming His covenant with Abraham that he would be blessed and multiplied upon the earth. In addition, we will see the story of Isaac and Abimelech and, finally, the strategy followed by Rebecca and Yaakov to get Isaac’s blessing.
B’reisheet (Genesis) 26:24
24 And Yahweh appeared to him the same night and said, “I am the Elohim of your father Abraham; do not fear, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for My servant Abraham’s sake.”
This week corresponds to the reading of the texts (in bold):
- B’reisheet (Genesis) 25:19-26:22 / 26:23-27:27 / 27:28-28:9
- Malachi 1:1-14 / 2:1-9 / 2:10-17
- Mattityahu (Matthew) 6:1-15 / 6:16-34 / Ivrim (Hebrew) 12
Summary of the weekly study, Year two:
B’reisheet (Genesis) 26:23-27:27
In these verses, Isaac, following the faith of his father Abraham, faces challenges, but Yahweh guides and prospers him. Isaac makes a pact with Abimelech and finds water in the desert. However, there are conflicts with neighbors. Then, deceived by Rebekah and Jacob, he blesses the latter instead of Esau. This highlights the importance of faith, obedience to Yahweh and wisdom in family decisions. Despite human mistakes, Yahweh keeps His promises and shows His sovereignty, reminding us that His plan prevails over our actions.
Malachi 2:1-9
In these verses the priests are rebuked for their lack of commitment and negligent teaching. Yahweh threatens punishment if they do not repent and restore integrity in religious service. The importance of accountability and faithfulness in spiritual leadership is emphasized. It warns of the consequences of betraying the priestly covenant, recalling the call to be guardians of truth and examples of righteousness. This lesson stresses the need to honor Yahweh in all areas of life and serve with devotion and authenticity.
Mattityahu (Matthew) 6:16-34
These verses present Yeshua’s teachings on true worship and concern for basic needs. Yeshua warns against hypocrisy in fasting and prayer, emphasizing sincerity of heart. He then urges reliance on Elohim for daily provisions, recalling how He cares even for the birds and flowers. Messiah encourages us to seek first Yahweh’s kingdom and His righteousness, trusting Him to provide all that is needed. This lesson stresses the importance of an active and trusting faith, freeing us from anxiety and strengthening our relationship with the Creator.

Enjoy this fun activity with the whole family. Inside you will find development questions for the three weekly sections (Torah, Haftarah and Brit Chadashah). While the older ones discuss the questions and their answers, the younger ones can color the picture related to the teaching, solve a maze, find the 7 differences and much more. We encourage you to do it week by week and instill in your children the habit of studying Yahweh’s word as a family.
We hope you and especially your sons and daughters enjoy this effort. For it is through the study of the Scriptures that we can come to understand the love and care that Yahweh has always had for us. And also to perceive that He has been taking care of even the smallest detail, so that we can take care and enjoy all that He gives us. That is why it is so important that our children learn and grow up knowing that they are loved by the Creator of all that exists.
Shalom.
