Parasha Vayishelach

Vayishlach or Vayishlah (וַיִּשְׁלַח — Hebrew for “and he sent”).

Parasha Vayishlach, in Genesis, recounts Ya’akov's encounter with his estranged brother Esav. Fearful, Ya’akov wrestles with a mysterious figure, likely an angel or Elohim, receiving a new name, Israel. The brothers reconcile, and Ya’akov settles in Shechem. The narrative includes the troubling incident involving Dinah and the subsequent revenge by her brothers. Vayishlach portrays themes of reconciliation, transformation, and the complexities of family relationships. It marks a pivotal moment in Ya’akov's life as he faces his past and embraces a new identity. The Parasha sets the stage for the continued development of the Israelite family and their journey.
