Parashat Vezot Haberakhah – Year 2 – Joy in the Inheritance of the Land.
Shabbat Shalom, Nazarene family.
This week we will study the parashat Vezot Haberakhah, portion of year 2, whereĀ we will see the second part of the blessings that Moshe gives to the tribes of Israel before his death. We will learn how Yahweh protects and prospers His people, giving them security and abundance. We will read about Israel’s bravery in battle and the happiness of having Yahweh as their protector. We will also understand that Yahweh is faithful and assures them victory over their enemies, showing his constant power and care.
Devarim (Deuteronomy) 33:29
29 Happy are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by Yahweh, The shield of your help And the sword of your majesty! Your enemies shall submit to you, And you shall tread down their high places.”
This week corresponds to the reading of the texts (in bold):
- Devarim (Deuteronomy) 33:1-17 / 33:18-29 / 34:1-12
- Yehoshua (Joshua) 1:1-9 / 1:10-15 / 1:16-18
- Mattityahu (Matthew) 5 / 6 / 7
Summary of the weekly study, Year two:
Devarim (Deuteronomy) 33:18-29
In these verses, Moshe blesses the tribes of Israel before his death. He speaks of special favor upon Zebulun and Issachar in their commercial and spiritual activities. He emphasizes the bravery of Gad and the righteousness of Dan. He praises the fertility of Naphtali and the strength of Asher. He concludes by exalting Yahweh as Israel’s protector, who guards them, defeats their enemies and gives them security and prosperity in the promised land. We learn that obedience to Yahweh brings blessing, protection and victory, for He is the refuge and salvation of His people.
Yehoshua (Joshua) 1:10-15
In these verses, Joshua orders the officers of the people to prepare provisions, for in three days they will cross the Jordan to take the land that Yahweh has promised them. He then reminds the tribes of Reuben, Gad and half of Manasseh of their commitment to help their brothers in the conquest before settling on the eastern side of the Jordan. In this passage, we learn the importance of obedience, unity and fulfillment of commitments. Yahweh keeps His promises, but His people must act boldly and faithfully to receive the inheritance He gives them.
Mattityahu (Matthew) 6
In these verses, we learn about the importance of a sincere and focused life of faith in Yahweh. Yeshua teaches about prayer, fasting and generosity, emphasizing that they should be done with humility and without seeking human recognition. He also calls us to trust in Yahweh instead of worrying about material concerns, reminding us that He cares for His creation and will provide for His children. Finally, he exhorts us to seek first the Kingdom of Yahweh and His righteousness, trusting that all that is necessary will be added to us. In this passage, we learn to live in faith, dependence and righteousness.

Enjoy this fun activity with the whole family. Inside you will find development questions for the three weekly sections (Torah, Haftarah and Brit Chadasha). While the older ones discuss the questions and their answers, the younger ones can color the picture related to the teaching, solve a maze, find the 7 differences and much more. We encourage you to do it week by week and instill in your children the habit of studying Yahweh’s word as a family.
We hope you and especially your sons and daughters enjoy this effort. For it is through the study of the Scriptures that we can come to understand the love and care that Yahweh has always had for us. And also to perceive that He has been taking care of even the smallest detail, so that we can take care and enjoy all that He gives us. That is why it is so important that our children learn and grow up knowing that they are loved by the Creator of all that exists.
Shalom.
