Parashat Noach – Year 1 – Set Apart From The Darkness.
Shabbat Shalom, Nazarene family.
This week we will study the parashat Noach, portion of year 1, where we will see the story of Noach (Noah), a righteous man who walked faithfully with Elohim. We will learn how Yahweh decided to cleanse the earth, but He showed His great mercy by giving instructions to build an ark. We will read about the great flood that covered everything and how His protection kept the family and animals safe. We will see how the waters finally receded to reveal a new and clean land. We will learn that obeying His voice always brings salvation. We will read about how His love and His mercy protect us through every storm.
B’reisheet (Genesis) 6:9

Summary of the weekly study, Year one:
B’reisheet (Genesis) 6:9-8:14
In these verses, the narrative of Noah is presented, describing him as a righteous man who walked with Elohim amidst a world filled with violence and corruption. Because of the widespread wickedness, Yahweh determined to bring a flood to purify the earth, yet He provided a way of escape through the construction of an ark. By His grace, He kept Noah, his family, and the animals safe while the waters covered the highest mountains. Eventually, the waters receded, and He remembered His creation, allowing life to flourish once more on dry ground according to His divine will and timing. In this passage, we learn that Yahweh is a set-apart Judge who provides salvation and remains faithful to His covenant with those who obey Him.
Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 54:1-6
In these verses, Yahweh speaks words of hope to the barren one, symbolizing His set-apart people, encouraging her to sing because her children will be more numerous than those of the married woman. He instructs her to enlarge the space of her tent and not to hold back, for she will spread out in every direction. She is told not to fear or be ashamed, for she will forget the reproach of her youth. Her Maker is her husband, Yahweh of Hosts is His name, and He is the Redeemer who calls her back with everlasting kindness and great compassion. In this passage, we learn that Yahweh is the divine husband and Redeemer who removes all shame and multiplies His set-apart heritage.
Luqa (Luke) 1:5-25
In these verses, the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth is told, a righteous couple who walked blamelessly in all the commandments of Yahweh. While Zechariah was performing his priestly service in the temple, an messenger (angel) appeared to him to announce that his prayers had been heard and that Elizabeth would bear a son named John. This child was destined to be filled with the set-apart Spirit from birth to prepare the people for the coming of the Sovereign. Because Zechariah questioned the message due to their old age, he was rendered unable to speak until the promise was fulfilled. Elizabeth later conceived and praised Yahweh for His favor in removing her disgrace. In this passage, we learn that Yahweh is faithful to His word and performs wonders through His set-apart power.

Enjoy this fun activity with the whole family. Inside you will find development questions for the three weekly sections (Torah, Haftarah and Brit Chadasha). While the older ones discuss the questions and their answers, the little ones can put together a puzzle related to the lesson, solve a maze, find the 7 differences and much more. We encourage you to do it week by week and instill in your children the habit of studying Yahweh’s word as a family.
We hope you and especially your sons and daughters enjoy this effort. For it is through the study of the Scriptures that we can come to understand the love and care that Yahweh has always had for us. And also to perceive that He has been taking care of even the smallest detail, so that we can take care and enjoy all that He gives us. That is why it is so important that our children learn and grow up knowing that they are loved by the Creator of all that exists.
Shalom.
