Parashat Ha’azinu – Year 2 – The Rock of Salvation and Judgement.
Shabbat Shalom, Nazarene family.
This week we will study the parashat Ha’azinu, portion of year 2, where we will see how Yahweh abundantly blessed His people, giving them the best of the earth. However, they became proud and forgot their Creator, seeking after false elohim (gods). This provoked the wrath of Yahweh, who allowed them to face hardship as punishment. Even so, Yahweh remains in control of all things and warns that He will judge His enemies and bring justice to His people.
Devarim (Deuteronomy) 32:30-31
30 How could one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight, Unless their Rock had sold them, And Yahweh had surrendered them?
31 For their rock is not like our Rock, Even our enemies themselves being judges.
This week corresponds to the reading of the texts (in bold):
- Devarim (Deuteronomy) 32:1-12 / 32:13-39 / 32:40-52
- Shemuel Bet (2 Samuel) 22:1-17 / 22:18-35 / 22:36-51
- Corintim Aleph (1 Corinthians) 1:1-9 / 1:10-17 / 1:18-31
Summary of the weekly study, Year two:
Devarim (Deuteronomy) 32:13-39
In these verses, it is taught that Yahweh is the one who provides and blesses His people with abundance. However, when Israel prospered, they became arrogant and forgot their Creator, following false elohim. This brought consequences, for Yahweh, outraged by their unfaithfulness, allowed them to face calamities. Despite the punishment, Yahweh remains in control and reminds them that there is no other like Him. He also makes it clear that He will judge His enemies and bring justice to His people. The central teaching is the importance of faithfulness to Yahweh and the recognition of His absolute sovereignty.
Shemuel Bet (2 Samuel) 22:18-35
In these verses, David praises Yahweh for delivering him from his enemies and the mighty ones who attacked him. He acknowledges that when he was in distress, he cried out to Yahweh and He responded with power, rescuing him and giving him strength. David emphasizes that Yahweh rewarded him for his righteousness and obedience to His commandments. We also learn that Yahweh is a refuge for the humble and gives light in the darkness. The main teaching is that Yahweh protects, strengthens and guides those who trust in Him, rewarding faithfulness and humbling the haughty.
Corintim Aleph (1 Corinthians) 1:10-17
In these verses, Shaul exhorts the believers to live in unity, without divisions or disputes. He points out that some were identifying with different leaders, such as Shaul, Apollos or Kephas, instead of focusing on the Messiah. Shaul emphasizes that he was not crucified by them and that his call is not to immerge (baptize), but to preach the message of salvation without words of human wisdom, so that the power of Yahweh may be manifested. The main teaching is that the community of believers should be united in the Messiah, without rivalry or focus on human leaders.Ā

Enjoy this fun activity with the whole family. Inside you will find development questions for the three weekly sections (Torah, Haftarah and Brit Chadasha). While the older ones discuss the questions and their answers, the younger ones can color the picture related to the teaching, solve a maze, find the 7 differences and much more. We encourage you to do it week by week and instill in your children the habit of studying Yahweh’s word as a family.
We hope you and especially your sons and daughters enjoy this effort. For it is through the study of the Scriptures that we can come to understand the love and care that Yahweh has always had for us. And also to perceive that He has been taking care of even the smallest detail, so that we can take care and enjoy all that He gives us. That is why it is so important that our children learn and grow up knowing that they are loved by the Creator of all that exists.
Shalom.
