Parashat Vayetze – Year 3 – Jacob escapes from Laban.

Shabbat Shalom, Nazarene family.

This week we will study the parashat Vayetze, portion of year 3, where we will see how Yaakov takes his family and leaves Laban’s house without warning. We will learn that Rachel takes her father’s idols, and that this causes a conflict when Laban pursues them. We will read how Yahweh protects Yaakov during this confrontation and how they finally make a covenant of peace. We will also see that, as Yaakov goes on his way, he encounters messengers (angels) of Yahweh. We will learn that Yahweh guides, protects and prepares the way, even when there are difficulties or complicated decisions to be made.

Summary of the weekly study, Year three:

B’reisheet (Genesis) 31:17-32:2

In these verses, Yaakov decides to depart with his family and all that he has gained, leaving Laban’s house. Although he leaves secretly, Yahweh protects him when Laban catches up with him, warning him in a dream not to harm him. After a tense conversation, they make a covenant of peace. As they continue their journey, Yaakov encounters messengers from Yahweh, a sign that he is not alone. In this passage, we learn that when we obey Yahweh’s direction, He keeps us, defends us, and shows us that His presence goes with us.

Hoshea (Hosea) 14:1-9

In these verses, the prophet Hosea calls the people to return to Yahweh in sincerity, leaving sin and self-sufficiency behind. We will see promises of restoration, forgiveness and blessing for those who return in humility. Yahweh presents Himself as a loving Father ready to heal and renew. We will learn that His love does not change, and that there is always an opportunity to start over. In this passage, we learn that genuine repentance opens the door to forgiveness, and that Yahweh wants us to live trusting in Him, growing as trees well watered by His faithfulness.

Mattityahu (Matthew) 4:12-25

In these verses, we will see how Yeshua begins His ministry in Galilee after the arrest of Yochanan (John the Baptist). We will read that He calls His first disciples, who leave everything to follow Him without hesitation. We will learn that Yeshua travels the region teaching, proclaiming the Kingdom and healing many. His fame spreads rapidly and multitudes follow him. In this passage, we learn that when Yeshua’s light shines in the midst of darkness, it transforms lives, calls for new beginnings and invites us to trust, follow Him and share His message with others.

We encourage you to do it week by week and instill in your children the habit of studying Yahweh’s word as a family.

And also to perceive that He has been taking care of even the smallest detail, so that we can take care and enjoy all that He gives us. That is why it is so important that our children learn and grow up knowing that they are loved by the Creator of all that exists.
