Parashat Va’etchanan – Year 2 – The Law that Guides Our Path.
Shabbat Shalom, Nazarene family.
This week we will study the parashat Va’etchanan, portion of year 2, where we willĀ learn how Yahweh asks His people to obey His commandments in order to live well and in peace. We will also see how special places of refuge are established and we will remember the importance of following the teachings that Yahweh gave on the mountain. This text invites us to love Yahweh with all our heart and to teach His instructions to our family. It is a guide to live close to Him every day!
Devarim (Deuteronomy) 5:2-4
2 Yahweh our Elohim made a covenant with us in Horeb.
3 Yahweh did not make this covenant with our fathers, but with us, those who are here today, all of us who are alive.
4 Yahweh talked with you face to face on the mountain from the midst of the fire.
This week corresponds to the reading of the texts (in bold):
- Devarim (Deuteronomy) 3:23-4:40 / 4:41-6:3 / 6:4-7:11
- Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 40:1-8 / 40:9-20 / 40:21-31
- Luqa (Luke) 22:1-23 / 22:24-46 / 22:47-71
Summary of the weekly study, Year two:
Devarim (Deuteronomy) 4:41-6:3
In these verses, we will learn about the importance of obeying Yahweh and keeping His commandments as a sign of love and respect for Him. Places of refuge are mentioned where people could find righteousness. In addition, we are reminded of how Yahweh gave His commandments on the mountain and why we should teach them to our families. This passage encourages us to live in righteousness, to love Yahweh with all our hearts and to always walk in His ways in order to be blessed.
Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 40:9-20
In these verses, we will learn how Yahweh is powerful and unique, the Creator of all that exists. This passage invites us to announce His greatness with joy and confidence, reminding us that there is no comparison between Yahweh and idols made by human hands. He cares for His people with love and strength, as a shepherd cares for his sheep. Furthermore, we are shown His sovereignty over all the earth and His immense knowledge and power.
Luqa (Luke) 22:24-46
In these verses, we will learn important lessons about humility, service and prayer. Yeshua teaches His disciples that the greatest in the Kingdom of Yahweh is the one who serves others. We also see how Yeshua warns them of difficult trials and asks them to be strong in their faith. Finally, Yeshua prays on the mountain, showing His trust in Yahweh and His willingness to do His will, even in the midst of great distress. This passage inspires us to follow His example.

Enjoy this fun activity with the whole family. Inside you will find development questions for the three weekly sections (Torah, Haftarah and Brit Chadashah). While the older ones discuss the questions and their answers, the younger ones can color the picture related to the teaching, solve a maze, find the 7 differences and much more. We encourage you to do it week by week and instill in your children the habit of studying Yahweh’s word as a family.
We hope you and especially your sons and daughters enjoy this effort. For it is through the study of the Scriptures that we can come to understand the love and care that Yahweh has always had for us. And also to perceive that He has been taking care of even the smallest detail, so that we can take care and enjoy all that He gives us. That is why it is so important that our children learn and grow up knowing that they are loved by the Creator of all that exists.
Shalom.
