Parashat Tzav – Year 3 – Moshe Consecrates the Priesthood.
Shabbat Shalom, Nazarene family.
This week we will study the parashat Tzav, portion of year 3, where we will see how Yahweh instructs Moshe to consecrate Aaron and his sons as priests. We will learn about the steps that were taken to set them apart for service, including special garments, anointings, and sacrifices. We will read how everything was done exactly as Yahweh commanded, showing the importance of obedience and preparation for service. We will see that this moment marked the beginning of the priesthood in Israel, teaching us respect for the set-apart and the need for purity in approaching Yahweh.
Vayiqra (Leviticus) 8:1-3
1 And Yahweh spoke to Moshe, saying:
2 “Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments, the anointing oil, a bull as the sin offering, two rams, and a basket of unleavened bread;
3 and gather all the congregation together at the door of the tabernacle of meeting.”
This week corresponds to the reading of the texts (in bold):
- Vayiqra (Leviticus) 6:1-7:10 / 7:11-38 / 8:1-36
- Malachi 3:1-12 / 3:13-18 / 4
- Mattityahu (Matthew) 25:1-13 / 25:14-30 / 25:31-46
Summary of the weekly study, Year three:
Vayiqra (Leviticus) 8:1-36
In these verses, we see the consecration of Aaron and his sons as priests, a key moment in establishing service before Yahweh. We learn that everything was done with order, detail, and exact obedience to the instructions given. We will see that set-apartness is not something casual, but a calling that requires preparation, purification, and commitment. We will read that the authority to serve does not come from oneself, but is granted by Yahweh. In this passage, we learn that serving Him demands respect, obedience, and a willingness to set ourselves apart completely to fulfill His purpose.
Malachi 4
In these verses, we will see how Yahweh announces the coming day, a time of judgment for those who do evil and of hope for those who fear Him. We will learn that for the righteous there will be healing and joy, while the proud will be like straw consumed by fire. We will also read the promise to send the prophet Elijah before that day, to prepare hearts and restore the relationship between fathers and sons. In this passage, we learn that Yahweh calls us to live in faithfulness, waiting confidently for His justice and the restoration He will bring.
Mattityahu (Matthew) 25:31-46
In these verses, we will see how Yeshua describes the final judgment, when He sits on His throne and separates people as a shepherd separates sheep from goats. We will learn that the righteous will be recognized for having shown love and care to the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the naked, the sick, and the prisoner. We will read that every act of kindness done to the least of these is like doing it to Yeshua Himself. In this passage, we learn that true faith is reflected in acts of compassion and service, and that our eternal reward depends on it.

Enjoy this fun activity with the whole family. Inside you will find development questions for the three weekly sections (Torah, Haftarah and Brit Chadasha). While the older ones discuss the questions and their answers, the younger ones can color the picture related to the teaching, solve a maze, find the 7 differences and much more. We encourage you to do it week by week and instill in your children the habit of studying Yahweh’s word as a family.
We hope you and especially your sons and daughters enjoy this effort. For it is through the study of the Scriptures that we can come to understand the love and care that Yahweh has always had for us. And also to perceive that He has been taking care of even the smallest detail, so that we can take care and enjoy all that He gives us. That is why it is so important that our children learn and grow up knowing that they are loved by the Creator of all that exists.
Shalom.
