Parasha Shelach – Year 2 – Rebellion and Judgement.
Shabbat Shalom, Nazarene family.
This week we will study the parasha Shelach, portion of year 2, we will see Yahweh’s response to the sin of the Israelites after their rebellion and refusal to enter the Promised Land. Through a judgment, Yahweh decrees that that generation will not see the Promised Land, except Caleb and Joshua. However, divine mercy is also shown, with instructions about sacrifices and offerings, implying the importance of obedience and faith in Elohim’s promises for future generations of Israel.
Bemidbar (Numbers) 14:34-35
34 According to the number of the days in which you spied out the land, forty days, for each day you shall bear your guilt one year, namely forty years, and you shall know My rejection.
35 I Yahweh have spoken this. I will surely do so to all this evil congregation who are gathered together against Me. In this wilderness they shall be consumed, and there they shall die.’ “

Summary of the weekly study, Year two:
Bemidbar (Numbers) 14:8-15:7
In these verses, the gravity of the Israelites’ disobedience and lack of faith in refusing to enter the Promised Land is revealed. Yahweh, in His anger, decrees that this generation will die in the wilderness, except for Joshua and Caleb, who demonstrated trust in Him. However, Yahweh also shows His mercy, offering a new opportunity for future generations. He gives them instructions about sacrifices and offerings, stressing the importance of obedience and repentance. The central lesson is that obedience to Yahweh is crucial to experience His blessings and promises.
Yehoshua (Joshua) 1:10-18
In these verses, Yehoshua (Joshua), upon receiving Yahweh’s command to lead Israel into the Promised Land, gives clear instructions to the officers and the people. He reminds them of the need to obey the laws of Moshe (Moses) and to be brave and strong, trusting in the divine promises. The people respond with unity and willingness, committing themselves to follow Yehoshua as leader. This passage teaches the importance of obedience to the word of Elohim, courage in faith and unity of Yahweh’s people in the mission He entrusts to them.
Ma’asei (Acts) 13:1-25
In these verses, the beginning of the first missionary journey of Shaul (Paul) and Barnabas is described. The Set-apart Spirit instructs them to set apart for the work to which Yahweh has called them, and the assembly in Antioch sends them out. During their journey, they preach in different cities, proclaiming the message of salvation to Jews and Gentiles. In a synagogue in Pisidian Antioch, Shaul presents a summary of Israel’s history, highlighting how Elohim fulfilled His promises through Yeshua. This passage teaches obedience to Yahweh’s call, faithfulness in mission and the extension of the gospel to all nations.

That is why it is so important that our children learn and grow up knowing that they are loved by the Creator of all that exists.
