28 Observe and obey all these words which I command you, that it may go well with you and your children after you forever, when you do what is good and right in the sight of Yahweh your Elohim.

Parasha Re’eh – Year 1 – Love and Serve Yahweh

Shabbat Shalom, Nazarene family.

This week we bring the activity of the parasha Re’eh, in it we will see the commandment to love and serve Yahweh Elohim always, because if we do so, we will be greatly blessed by Him. We will also learn which is the place that Yahweh designated for His name to be worshipped there, including within the commandments to eliminate all traces of images, statues and sculptures of worship to the false elohim.

Devarim (Deuteronomy) 12:28
28 Observe and obey all these words which I command you, that it may go well with you and your children after you forever, when you do what is good and right in the sight of Yahweh your Elohim.

Summary of the weekly study, Year one:

Devarim (Deuteronomy) 11:26-12:28

These verses emphasize obedience to Yahweh’s commandments for blessings. Disobedience is warned against, leading to curses. Exclusive selection of a worship place by Yahweh Elohim is highlighted, prohibiting imitation of pagan practices. Destroying unauthorized places of worship is urged. Worship is commanded only at Yahweh’s designated place, avoiding sacrifices elsewhere. Emphasis is on following Yahweh’s specific commandments instead of imitating rituals of other nations, underscoring the importance of obedience, worship at the appointed place, and avoiding pagan practices to maintain a faithful relationship with Yahweh Elohim.

Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 66:1-6

In these verses, Yahweh’s supremacy over human constructions is emphasized. Though Yahweh Elohim is worthy of a temple, He stresses that no building can contain Him. Yahweh looks favorably upon those with a humble and contrite heart, but disapproves of empty worship and hypocritical actions. A contrast is drawn between those who are faithful and those who defy His authority. It’s emphasized that Yahweh alone has the authority to judge and reward according to human actions, displaying His sovereignty over all creation and history.

Ma’asei (Acts) 15:1-21

In these verses, Yahweh unites the disciples to discuss the circumcision of converted Gentiles. Kepha emphasizes equality between Jews and Gentiles through faith in Yahweh Elohim. Ya’akov suggests minimal guidelines for Gentile converts, abstaining from idolatry, immorality, and blood. The council affirms this, sending a message of unity across the asemblies. They acknowledge Yahweh’s Spirit guiding their decisions. This reinforces the understanding that salvation is not based on the law but on Yahweh’s grace through faith in Yeshua Hamashiach, promoting harmony between Jews and Gentiles in the Nazarene community.
