Parashat Ki Tetze – Year 3 – Guardians of Justice.
Shabbat Shalom, Nazarene family.
This week we will study the parashat Ki Tetze, portion of year 3, where we will see the importance of treating workers fairly by paying their wages on time. We will learn to be generous to orphans and widows by setting aside part of our harvest for them. We will read about the need to use honest weights and measures in all our business dealings to honor Yahweh. We will also learn how to apply discipline with mercy, respecting the dignity of our neighbor. Finally, we will read about how to remember our history in order to protect ourselves from evil, understanding that righteousness guides every step of our lives under the care of our Elohim.
Devarim (Deuteronomy) 25:15-16
15 You shall have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure, that your days may be lengthened in the land which Yahweh your Elohim is giving you.
16 For all who do such things, all who behave unrighteously, are an abomination to Yahweh your Elohim.
This week corresponds to the reading of the texts (in bold):
- Devarim (Deuteronomy) 21:10-23:8 / 23:9-24:13 / 24:14-25:19
- Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 54:1-6 / 54:7-11 / 54:12-17
- Luqa (Luke) 22:1-46 / 22:47-23:17 / 23:18-56
Summary of the weekly study, Year three:
Devarim (Deuteronomy) 24:14-25:19
In these verses, we are taught that set-apartness is manifested in how we treat the most vulnerable in our community. Yahweh expects us to be fair to the humble worker and generous to those who cannot support themselves. Honesty in our weights and measures is not just a matter of business, but an act of worship that honors His name. We must always remember where we came from so that we may act with compassion and justice at all times. Our daily integrity reflects the character of the Creator on earth. In this passage, we learn that honest justice honors our relationship with Yahweh.
Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 54:12-17
In these verses, Yahweh promises to rebuild His people with precious and shining materials, symbolizing the beauty of their restoration. We are assured that all our children will be taught directly by Elohim, which will bring deep peace to every home. Justice will be the solid foundation that will protect us from any fear or distress. Even if difficulties or armies rise up against us, nothing will be able to overcome us because He has complete control over weapons and those who manufacture them. His protection is an eternal inheritance for His faithful servants. In this passage, we learn that Yahweh always takes care of us.
Luqa (Luke) 23:18-56
In these verses, we observe Yeshua’s trial before the crowd and His surrender to death out of love. Although He was innocent, He was condemned while a criminal was released in His place, demonstrating His voluntary sacrifice. On His way to the cross, He showed compassion and forgave those who mistreated Him, trusting fully in Yahweh’s plan. His death brought powerful signs, and He was buried with respect by pious hands in a new tomb. Everything that happened fulfilled the divine promises for the salvation of the whole world. In this passage, we learn that Yeshua’s surrender opened the way to Elohim.

Enjoy this fun activity with the whole family. Inside you will find development questions for the three weekly sections (Torah, Haftarah and Brit Chadasha). While the older ones discuss the questions and their answers, the little ones can put together a puzzle related to the lesson, solve a maze, find the 7 differences and much more. We encourage you to do it week by week and instill in your children the habit of studying Yahweh’s word as a family.
We hope you and especially your sons and daughters enjoy this effort. For it is through the study of the Scriptures that we can come to understand the love and care that Yahweh has always had for us. And also to perceive that He has been taking care of even the smallest detail, so that we can take care and enjoy all that He gives us. That is why it is so important that our children learn and grow up knowing that they are loved by the Creator of all that exists.
Shalom.
