Parashat Kedoshim – Year 3 – Only Yahweh Can Help Us.
Shabbat Shalom, Nazarene family.
This week we will study the parashat Kedoshim, portion of year 3, where we will see how Yahweh teaches His people to stay away from the customs of neighboring nations and to live set-apart lives. We will learn that obeying His instructions protects life and reflects respect for His authority. We will read about the consequences of straying from His ways and the importance of not following practices that He considers impure. We will see that Yahweh calls His people to be different, to be careful in their actions and relationships, and to remember that set-apartness is a daily commitment to Him.
Vayiqra (Leviticus) 20:6-7
6 ‘And the person who turns to mediums and familiar spirits, to prostitute himself with them, I will set My face against that person and cut him off from his people.
7 Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be Set-apart, for I am Yahweh your Elohim.
This week corresponds to the reading of the texts (in bold):
- Vayiqra (Leviticus) 19:1-18 / 19:19-37 / 20:1-27
- Amos 9:1-6 / 9:7-10 / 9:11-15
- Corintim Aleph (1 Corinthians) 6
- Galatim (Galatians) 5:1-15 / 5:16-26
Summary of the weekly study, Year three:
Vayiqra (Leviticus) 20:1-27
In these verses, Yahweh establishes clear standards for His people, showing the difference between the set-apart and the profane. Pagan practices, such as human sacrifice and idolatry, are prohibited because they distance the people from His presence. Yahweh calls us to live with purity, justice, and respect for others, reminding us that obedience brings blessing and disobedience brings serious consequences. Each instruction aims to form a set-apart community, guided by set-apartness and faithfulness to His commandments. In this passage, we learn that being set-apart means living according to Yahweh’s will at all times.
Amos 9:11-15
In these verses, Yahweh promises to restore what was destroyed and rebuild the kingdom of David. We will see how He transforms ruin into hope, bringing prosperity and abundance to His people. The images of uninterrupted harvests and fertile lands show complete renewal. Yahweh assures that He will plant His people firmly in their land, and that no one will uproot them again. In this passage, we learn that Yahweh keeps His promises, restores what seemed lost, and gives new life to those who trust in Him with faithfulness and constant hope.
Galatim (Galatians) 5:16-26
In these verses, we will learn the difference between living according to human desires and living guided by the Spirit. We will see that those who follow their own impulses stray from Yahweh’s purpose, while those who walk by the Spirit produce fruits such as love, joy, peace, patience, and kindness. We will read that it is not just a matter of avoiding evil, but of allowing the Spirit to transform our hearts and actions. In this passage, we learn that true freedom and victory are found when we allow the Spirit to guide every aspect of our daily lives.

Enjoy this fun activity with the whole family. Inside you will find development questions for the three weekly sections (Torah, Haftarah and Brit Chadasha). While the older ones discuss the questions and their answers, the younger ones can color the picture related to the teaching, solve a maze, find the 7 differences and much more. We encourage you to do it week by week and instill in your children the habit of studying Yahweh’s word as a family.
We hope you and especially your sons and daughters enjoy this effort. For it is through the study of the Scriptures that we can come to understand the love and care that Yahweh has always had for us. And also to perceive that He has been taking care of even the smallest detail, so that we can take care and enjoy all that He gives us. That is why it is so important that our children learn and grow up knowing that they are loved by the Creator of all that exists.
Shalom.
