Parashat Devarim – Year 3 – Yahweh Fights For You.
Shabbat Shalom, Nazarene family.
This week we will study the parashat Devarim, portion of year 3, we will see how Yahweh gives victory to His people against very powerful kings such as Sihon and Og. We will read about the conquest of new lands and cities, understanding that it was not by human strength, but by divine favor. We will learn the importance of distributing blessings in an orderly manner among the tribes and, above all, we will hear Moshe’s words of encouragement to Joshua. In this study, we will learn that we should not be afraid of challenges, because Yahweh is the one who fights all our personal battles every day, today and always.
Devarim (Deuteronomy) 3:21-22
21 “And I commanded Joshua at that time, saying, ‘Your eyes have seen all that Yahweh your Elohim has done to these two kings; so will Yahweh do to all the kingdoms through which you pass.
22 You must not fear them, for Yahweh your Elohim Himself fights for you.’
This week corresponds to the reading of the texts (in bold):
- Devarim (Deuteronomy) 1:1-2:1 / 2:2-30 / 2:31-3:22
- Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 1:1-10 / 1:11-20 / 1:21-31
- Marqaus (Mark) 14:1-25 / 14:26-50 / 14:51-72
Summary of the weekly study, Year three:
Devarim (Deuteronomy) 2:31-3:22
In these verses, we see how Yahweh led His people to victory against powerful enemies. Through these accounts, we understand that when we walk by faith, obstacles disappear and promises are fulfilled. No matter how great the challenges, true strength does not come from us, but from divine support. Seeing how Moses encourages the young Joshua, we remember that past triumphs should strengthen our hope to face the future without fear. In this passage, we learn that true success depends on trusting that Yahweh is the one who fights each of our daily battles.
Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 1:21-31
In these verses, we read about Yahweh’s sadness at seeing how a city that was once faithful and righteous has become filled with wickedness. The message is an urgent call to recover purity, leaving behind everything that corrupts the heart. Although there are warnings about the consequences of straying from the right path, the ultimate purpose is the restoration and cleansing of His people. Yahweh desires to remove impurities so that righteousness may shine again. We must not ignore His voice. In this passage, we learn that only under Yahweh’s guidance is it possible to become people of integrity again.
Marqaus (Mark) 14:51-72
In these verses, we see the contrast between Yeshua’s faithfulness and human frailty in times of great pressure. While the Master courageously declares the truth before His judges, we see His followers flee or deny knowing Him out of fear. The story shows us that even the closest friends can fail when they rely only on their own strength. It is a reminder of the need for constant vigilance so as not to give in to the strong temptation of fear. In this passage, we learn that our human weakness can only be overcome through faith and total dependence on our Savior.

Enjoy this fun activity with the whole family. Inside you will find development questions for the three weekly sections (Torah, Haftarah and Brit Chadasha). While the older ones discuss the questions and their answers, the younger ones can color the picture related to the teaching, solve a maze, find the 7 differences and much more. We encourage you to do it week by week and instill in your children the habit of studying Yahweh’s word as a family.
We hope you and especially your sons and daughters enjoy this effort. For it is through the study of the Scriptures that we can come to understand the love and care that Yahweh has always had for us. And also to perceive that He has been taking care of even the smallest detail, so that we can take care and enjoy all that He gives us. That is why it is so important that our children learn and grow up knowing that they are loved by the Creator of all that exists.
Shalom.
