Parashat Bo – Year 3 – Unleavened Bread and Freedom.

Shabbat Shalom, Nazarene family.

This week we will study the parashat Bo, portion of year 3, where we will see how Yahweh fulfills His word by sending the tenth plague: the death of the firstborn of Egypt. We will learn that while the Egyptians suffer and cry out, the children of Israel are protected by the blood of the lamb. We will read how Pharaoh finally lets the people go, and how Yahweh instructs Moshe about the consecration of the firstborn and the importance of remembering this day. In this passage, we will see that Yahweh delivers with power, and He wants us to remember His intervention in our lives.

Shemote (Exodus) 12:50-51

Summary of the weekly study, Year three:

Shemote (Éxodus) 12:29-13:16

In these verses, Yahweh executes the final judgment on Egypt, killing all the firstborn, from the son of Pharaoh to that of the prisoner. This act causes Pharaoh to finally free Israel. The people leave hastily, taking with them riches given to them by the Egyptians. Yahweh instructs Moshe about the consecration of the firstborn and establishes reminders such as unleavened bread and the ceremony of redemption. In this passage, we learn that obedience brings freedom, that Yahweh fulfills His promises, and that we must teach future generations what He has done for us.

Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) 46:20-28

In these verses, Yahweh compares Egypt to a beautiful heifer, but announces that destruction is coming from the north. The Egyptian soldiers flee in disarray, and Egypt is put to shame. Yahweh declares judgment on the nation for its pride and violence, but He also speaks directly to His servant Yaakov (Israel), telling him not to fear. Although he will be corrected with justice, he will not be completely destroyed. In this passage, we learn that Yahweh judges the arrogant firmly, but comforts His people with promises of care, restoration, and hope, reminding them that they are not alone, even in the midst of punishment.

Marqaus (Mark) 3:22-35

In these verses, the teachers of the Torah accuse Yeshua of casting out demons by the power of Beelzebub. Yeshua responds with clear logic, explaining that a divided kingdom cannot stand, and that Satan cannot cast out Satan. He then warns of the danger of blaspheming against the Spirit of Yahweh, which will not be forgiven. Finally, when His mother and brothers seek Him, Yeshua declares that His true family are those who do the will of Yahweh. In this passage we learn that obedience to the Father is the true bond that unites us to Yeshua.
