Parashat Yitro – Year 3 – Mount Sinai: When Yahweh Spoke.

Shabbat Shalom, Nazarene family.

This week we will study the parashat Yitro, portion of year 3, where we will see how Yahweh gives the Ten Commandments, a clear guide for living in obedience and respect. We will learn about the importance of honoring Yahweh, keeping the Sabbath, and treating others with justice and love. We will read how the people, witnessing Yahweh’s power, feel fear, but Moshe encourages them not to be afraid. We will also see instructions on how to approach Yahweh with reverence, without human adornments or elaborate altars.

Summary of the weekly study, Year three:

Shemote (Éxodus) 20:1-26

In these verses, Yahweh gives the Ten Commandments to the people of Israel, revealing His holy character and His desire for an orderly and respectful relationship with humanity. We learn fundamental principles such as honoring Yahweh, keeping the Sabbath, respecting parents, and not killing, stealing, or lying. The people tremble before His presence, and Moshe explains to them that reverent fear helps them to avoid sinning. Yahweh also teaches how the altar should be: simple, without human intervention, as a sign of humility before His Set-apartness. In this passage, we learn how to live in obedience and reverence before our Creator.

Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 8:11-9:21

In these verses, Yahweh warns Isaiah not to follow the path of the people who trust in conspiracies and fear man. Instead, he is instructed to fear only Yahweh and keep His teaching. Many will stumble over the stone (Yeshua) and be caught. Even though there is darkness and famine, those who trust in Yahweh will see great light. The people who walked in darkness will receive hope through the birth of a ruling child. In this passage, we learn that we must trust in Yahweh and His light, even in the midst of judgment and darkness.

Mattityahu (Matthew) 7:12-8:1

In these verses, we will read that we must treat others as we want to be treated, because that is the basis of the Torah and the prophets. We will see that the path to life is narrow and few find it. We will learn to recognize false prophets by their fruits, and that it is not enough to say “Adon” to enter the Kingdom, but to do the will of the Father. Yeshua compares those who obey His words to a house built on rock. In this passage, we learn that listening to and obeying the Messiah gives us a firm foundation.

And also to perceive that He has been taking care of even the smallest detail, so that we can take care and enjoy all that He gives us. That is why it is so important that our children learn and grow up knowing that they are loved by the Creator of all that exists.
