Parashat Ki Tetze – Year 2 – Obedience that Purifies.

Shabbat Shalom, Nazarene family.

This week we will study the parashat Ki Tetze, portion of year 2, where we will see how Yahweh instructs His people on the importance of purity, holiness and mutual care. Rules are established to keep the camp clean, showing the need for an environment worthy of His presence. In addition, justice and compassion for the vulnerable, such as foreigners, slaves and the poor, are promoted through laws that protect their rights. These teachings reflect Yahweh’s desire for His people to live in obedience, justice and mercy in their daily lives.

Devarim (Deuteronomy) 24:8-9

Summary of the weekly study, Year two:

Devarim (Deuteronomy) 23:9-24:13

In these verses, Yahweh instructs His people on the importance of maintaining spiritual and physical purity within the camp, noting that His presence requires a clean and holy environment. Practices that dishonor Yahweh are prohibited and rules are established to protect the vulnerable, such as escaped slaves and foreigners, showing divine compassion. Also highlighted are laws about justice and fair treatment of the poor, such as the regulation of loans and the prohibition of pledging objects essential to life. These instructions reflect Yahweh’s desire to guide His people in justice, compassion and set-apartness.

Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 54:7-11

In these verses, Yahweh comforts His people, assuring them of His everlasting love and mercy. Although He allowed a time of affliction, He promises restoration and a renewed relationship. Yahweh compares His faithfulness to the covenant made with Noach (Noah), declaring that He will never again forsake them or be permanently angry with them. He also describes the glorious future of His people, represented as a city rebuilt with precious foundations. This message reaffirms Yahweh’s unwavering commitment, His power to redeem, and His desire to bless His people with lasting peace and security.

Luqa (Luke) 22:47-23:17

In these verses, the betrayal of Yeshua by Yehudah, who betrays him with a kiss, is narrated. Yeshua is arrested and brought before the religious leaders, facing mockery and unjust trials. Before the Sanhedrin, He declares His identity as the Son of Man, which provokes accusations of blasphemy. Then, He is brought before Pilate and Herod, who find no fault in Him, but yield to the pressure of the people. These events reflect the suffering, injustice and surrender of Yeshua as part of the plan of redemption, showing His willingness to fulfill Yahweh’s will to the end.
