Parashat Ekev – Year 3 – Love And Serve Yahweh.
Shabbat Shalom, Nazarene family.
This week we will study the parashat Ekev, portion of year 3, where we will see that Yahweh asks us to love and serve Him with all our hearts. We will learn that true obedience comes from gratitude for His past wonders. We will read about the importance of remembering His commandments and teaching them to new generations. We will see that following His ways brings blessing, rain for the earth, and prosperity, while turning away from Him removes Elohim’s protection. We will learn that the Promised Land requires our total faithfulness. Thus, we will read how Yahweh desires to bless us if we decide to walk with Him in humility, respect, and constant commitment every day.
Devarim (Deuteronomy) 11:1
1 “Therefore you shall love Yahweh your Elohim, and keep His charge, His statutes, His judgments, and His commandments always.
This week corresponds to the reading of the texts (in bold):
- Devarim (Deuteronomy) 7:12-9:3 / 9:4-10:11 / 10:12-11:25
- Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 49:1-7 / 49:8-26 / 50
- Yochanan (John) 13 / 14 / 15
Summary of the weekly study, Year three:
Devarim (Deuteronomy) 10:12-11:25
In these verses, we will see that Yahweh asks us to love and serve Him with our souls. We will learn that Elohim seeks a heart that is transformed and grateful for His great works. We will read about the importance of keeping His commandments in order to receive rain and prosperity on earth. We will see that we must teach these laws to our family every day. If we decide to follow in His footsteps, we will have victory over any obstacle and live in safety. It is vital to remember that His favor depends on our loyalty. In this passage, we learn that the true key to a fulfilling life is to love Yahweh faithfully by always doing His will.
Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 50
In these verses, we will see Yahweh explain why His people were cast away because of their sins. We will learn about the faithful servant who listens to Yahweh’s voice and does not rebel in the face of suffering. We will read how this servant turns his back to those who strike him, trusting fully that Elohim will help him emerge victorious. We will see that those who walk in darkness must trust only in the name of Yahweh to find light. We must not trust in our own sparks. In this passage, we learn that total obedience and absolute trust in Yahweh enable us to overcome any spiritual affliction.
Yochanan (John) 15
In these verses, we will see that Yeshua is the true vine and we are the branches. We will learn that Yahweh is the farmer who prunes the branch so that it will bear more fruit. We will read that without being united to Yeshua we can do nothing worthwhile. We will see that His main commandment is that we love one another as He loved us. We will learn that the world will hate us, but the Comforter sent by Elohim will bear witness to the truth. We must remain in His love so that our joy may be full. In this passage, we learn that spiritual fulfillment comes from following Yeshua.

Enjoy this fun activity with the whole family. Inside you will find development questions for the three weekly sections (Torah, Haftarah and Brit Chadasha). While the older ones discuss the questions and their answers, the younger ones can color the picture related to the teaching, solve a maze, find the 7 differences and much more. We encourage you to do it week by week and instill in your children the habit of studying Yahweh’s word as a family.
We hope you and especially your sons and daughters enjoy this effort. For it is through the study of the Scriptures that we can come to understand the love and care that Yahweh has always had for us. And also to perceive that He has been taking care of even the smallest detail, so that we can take care and enjoy all that He gives us. That is why it is so important that our children learn and grow up knowing that they are loved by the Creator of all that exists.
Shalom.
