Parasha Noach – Year 2 – The Rainbow of Promise

Shabbat Shalom, Nazarene family.

This week we bring the activity of the parashah Noach, where we will learn about Yahweh’s covenant with Noach after the flood. In addition, we will see the instructions that Elohim gave to Noach and his family regarding food, the blood of animals and the command to procreate and multiply in order to inhabit the land created by Him. Also, in this portion of Year 2, we will see Noach’s descendants and their most important deeds.

Summary of the weekly study, Year two:

B’reisheet (Genesis) 8:15-10:32

These verses relate Noach’s departure from the ark and Yahweh’s covenant with mankind. Noach offers sacrifices to Yahweh Elohim, who promises not to destroy the Earth with a flood again. The rainbow covenant is established as a sign of this promise. Noach’s descendants multiply, but human arrogance leads to the construction of the tower of Babel, dispersing humanity and creating diverse languages. The chapters conclude with the genealogy of Noah and his sons, showing the dispersion of the nations.

Yeshayahu (Isaiah) 54:7-17

These verses offer comfort and promises of restoration to Israel. In spite of exile and affliction, Yahweh assures His everlasting love. He promises to reconcile with His people as a faithful husband. Although they may face brief moments of divine wrath, Yahweh shows mercy and compassion. He establishes an everlasting covenant of peace, assuring that oppression will not prevail and that justice will be established. Israel will be established on a firm foundation and will be protected from adversity. This passage highlights divine faithfulness and protection, offering hope and comfort through trials.

Luqa (Luke) 1:26-56

These verses relate the visit of the messenger (angel) Gabriel to Miriam (Mary), announcing to her that she will conceive the Son of Elohim. Despite her astonishment, Miriam humbly accepts the divine plan. She then visits her relative Elizabeth, who is also expecting a miraculous son, Yochanan the Immerser (John the Baptist). Miriam praises Yahweh in song, exalting His mercy and power. She recognizes that she has been chosen for a special purpose and that all generations will call her blessed. This passage highlights the importance of faith, obedience and humility, and anticipates the birth of Yeshua as the fulfillment of Yahweh Elohim’s promises.

We hope you and especially your sons and daughters enjoy this effort. For it is through the study of the Scriptures that we can come to understand the love and care that Yahweh has always had for us. And also to perceive that He has been taking care of even the smallest detail, so that we can take care and enjoy all that He gives us. That is why it is so important that our children learn and grow up knowing that they are loved by the Creator of all that exists.
