The story of the Shunammite woman and the prophet Elisha tells how this generous woman and her husband take in Elisha, building him a room in their home. In return, Elisha blesses them with a son. Tragically, the boy dies, but Elisha, with faith and prayer, resurrects him. This story highlights the importance of hospitality, faith and generosity. Furthermore, it shows how Yahweh rewards goodness and trust in his power. The relationship between the Shunammite woman and Elisha reflects reciprocity in human relationships and divine intervention in everyday lives.
- In King Joash’s deathbed visit to Elisha, the prophet urges him to open a window to the east and shoot arrows, symbolizing victory over the Arameans. This act illustrates the importance of obedience and faith in divine direction, even in critical moments. The interaction highlights the relationship between spiritual and secular leadership, showing how faith can influence the direction and protection of a nation. The final lesson is trust in Yahweh to face challenges, even in times of transition and adversity.

Melachim Bet (2 Kings) 2:14-15
14 Then he took the mantle of Eliyahu that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and said, “Where is Yahweh Elohim of Eliyahu?” And when he also had struck the water, it was divided this way and that; and Elisha crossed over.
15 Now when the sons of the prophets who were from Jericho saw him, they said, “The spirit of Eliyahu rests on Elisha.” And they came to meet him, and bowed to the ground before him.
Remember, obedience to Yahweh’s commandments will bring blessing but disobedience will lead to the perdition of our souls eternally. Decide what you will do today.
