The Fall Of Jerusalem.

Shabbat shalom, Nazarene family.

In this teaching on the fall of Jerusalem, we will see what happens when a people ignores warnings and turns away from their Father Elohim. After many years of disobedience, the city and the Temple were destroyed, and the people were taken far from their home to Babylon. This sad story reminds us that our actions have consequences and that true protection lies in faithfulness to Yahweh. His account teaches us that, even though we face difficult times because of our mistakes, it is always vital to listen to the voice of our Creator and value the opportunity to walk in His truth.

The biblical passages used in this study are:

  • Judah’s Judgment by Babylon: Melachim Bet (2 Kings) 24:1-7
  • The Fall of Jerusalem: Melachim Bet (2 Kings) 25:1-7
  • The Captivity of Judah: Melachim Bet (2 Kings) 25:8-21

Some of the lessons learned from this study include:

  • King Jehoiakim rebelled against Babylon, leading Yahweh to send enemy nations to destroy Judah. This judgment occurred because of Manasseh’s past sins and the shedding of innocent blood. As Jehoiakim died and his son Jehoiachin took the throne, Babylon seized all Egyptian territories, signaling the beginning of Judah’s end.
  • Nebuchadnezzar besieged Jerusalem until famine crippled the city. King Zedekiah and his army fled but were captured in the plains of Jericho. At Riblah, the Babylonians executed Zedekiah’s sons before his eyes, blinded him, and carried him in chains to Babylon, marking the tragic fall of Judah’s last king.
  • Nebuzaradan, the Babylonian commander, burned the Temple of Yahweh, the royal palace, and all major buildings. After tearing down Jerusalem’s walls, he exiled the remaining people. The Babylonians looted and broke the Temple’s bronze pillars and gold vessels, while Judah’s high leaders were executed, finalizing the kingdom’s destruction.

In conclusion, the fall of Jerusalem marks the end of an era due to the persistent disobedience of its leaders. What began as a political rebellion ended in a spiritual and physical catastrophe: the destruction of Yahweh’s Temple, the burning of the city, and the forced exile to Babylon. The tragic fate of Zedekiah and the looting of the sacred vessels symbolize the loss of divine protection for abandoning justice. This history teaches us that Elohim’s sovereignty transcends borders and that true security resides in steadfast faithfulness to His Word.

Remember, obedience to Yahweh’s commandments will bring blessing but disobedience will lead to the perdition of our souls eternally. Decide what you will do today.

We hope that you, and especially your sons and daughters, will enjoy this activity. For it is through the study of the Scriptures that we can come to understand the love and care that Yahweh has always had for us. And also perceive that He has been taking care of even the smallest detail, so that we can take care and enjoy all that He gives us. That is why it is so important that our children learn and grow up knowing that they are loved by the Creator of all that exists.

Shalom.
