Mattityahu (Matthew) 14:19-21
19 Then He commanded the multitudes to sit down on the grass. And He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes.
20 So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained.
21 Now those who had eaten were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

Yeshua Multiplies the Loaves and Fishes

Shabbat Shalom, Nazarene family.

On this occasion we will look at the teaching of the multiplication of the loaves and fishes, recounted in the Gospels, which highlights the abundance that arises from faith and generosity. Yeshua, before a hungry crowd, blesses five loaves and two fish, which multiply to feed thousands. This miracle illustrates the importance of sharing and trusting in divine provision, transcending human limitations. Beyond the literal multiplication, it underscores the capacity to transform scarcity into fullness through faith and solidarity, a relevant message about the abundance that arises when we share what we have.

The biblical passages used in this study are:

  • Mattityahu (Matthew) 14:13-21
  • Marqaus (Mark) 6:30-44
  • Luqa (Luke) 9:10-17
  • Yochanan (John) 6:1-15

Some of the lessons learned from this study include:

  • Yeshua’s compassion: The miracle begins with Yeshua’s compassion towards the crowd that followed him. Seeing the hungry people, He feels compassion for them and desires to provide for their physical and spiritual needs.
  • Limited Resources: The disciples point out that they have only five loaves and two fish, which is clearly insufficient to feed the crowd, estimated to be in the thousands.
  • Blessing and Distribution: Despite limited resources, Yeshua takes the loaves and fish, blesses them and then distributes them through His disciples. This gesture symbolizes Yeshua’s ability to multiply and provide in a miraculous way.
  • Resulting Abundance: After the blessing and distribution, the food miraculously multiplies, and not only is there enough to feed the multitude, but there is also abundance. Twelve baskets full of the leftover fragments are even collected.
  • Spiritual Lesson: Beyond being simply a miracle of physical provision, the multiplication of the loaves and fishes has spiritual significance. Yeshua uses this event to teach lessons about the importance of trusting in Him, the abundance of His blessings and His ability to meet our needs, both physical and spiritual.

Yeshua Multiplies the Loaves and Fishes

We hope that you, and especially your sons and daughters, will enjoy this activity. For it is through the study of the Scriptures that we can come to understand the love and care that Yahweh has always had for us. And also perceive that He has been taking care of even the smallest detail, so that we can take care and enjoy all that He gives us. That is why it is so important that our children learn and grow up knowing that they are loved by the Creator of all that exists.

Shalom.
