Parasha Vayetze – Year 2 – Ya’akov’s Prosperity
Shabbat Shalom, Nazarene family.
This week we bring the activity of parasha Vayetze, portion of year 2 where we will see the story of the mandrakes found in the field by Reuben and how Yahweh was adding descendants to Ya’akov. In addition, we will see how Yahweh prospered Ya’akov in spite of the difficulties through dreams in order to bless him. Finally, we will see how Ya’akov is visited by a messenger (angel) of Yahweh to tell him to leave Laban and go on a journey with his wives and children.
B’reisheet (Genesis) 31:12-13
12 And He said, ‘Lift your eyes now and see, all the rams which leap on the flocks are streaked, speckled, and gray-spotted; for I have seen all that Laban is doing to you.
13 I am the Elohim of Bethel, where you anointed the pillar and where you made a vow to Me. Now arise, get out of this land, and return to the land of your family.’ “

Summary of the weekly study, Year two:
B’reisheet (Genesis) 30:14-31:16
In these verses, Ya’akov works for Laban and marries Leah and Rachel. The rivalry between the sisters for Jacob’s love is evident. Ya’akov and Laban agree on terms of work, but conflicts arise over wages and property. Ya’akov finally decides to leave Laban’s house after disagreements. Through an agreement to raise livestock, Ya’akov prospers, reflecting Yahweh’s faithfulness to his promises. This passage depicts themes of loyalty, family rivalry, and Elohim’s providence in human relationships, demonstrating how obedience to Yahweh leads to blessing.
Hoshea (Hosea) 13:1-16
In these verses, the prophet Hoshea (Hosea) condemns idolatry and the lack of recognition of the true Elohim. Yahweh laments how Israel has abandoned their faith, comparing them to plants in the desert and calves that break the yoke. Despite being blessed, Israel forgot Yahweh and became arrogant. Elohim predicts judgment on Israel, warning that the idol Assyria will not be able to save them. However, He also shows His compassion, recalling how He cared for Israel from their infancy and led them to freedom. This passage emphasizes the importance of faithfulness to Yahweh and the warning against idolatry.
Mattityahu (Matthew) 3:13-4:11
In these verses, the immersion of Yeshua by Yochanan the immerser (John the Baptist) in the Jordan River is narrated, an act that marks the beginning of His public ministry. After His immersion, Yeshua is led into the wilderness, where He fasts for forty days and is tempted by the adversary (devil). Despite the trials, Yeshua remains faithful to Elohim and rejects the temptations. This passage demonstrates the importance of immersion as a public testimony of our faith, obedience to Yahweh’s will and resistance to temptation, establishing Yeshua’s example as a model for believers.

And also to perceive that He has been taking care of even the smallest detail, so that we can take care and enjoy all that He gives us. That is why it is so important that our children learn and grow up knowing that they are loved by the Creator of all that exists.
